Worship!

Dear Friend,

I’d like to draw your attention to an important subject in this edition.  Worship is an indispensable factor in our relationship with God.  It is our highest calling and purpose for being.

Worship can be defined as homage rendered to God (our creator). This is where many people get it wrong when they neither acknowledge nor relate to God as the creator! The Psalmist writes for our admonition when he says:

1 The earth is the LORD’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; 2 for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. Psalm 24

A good enough reason for us to:

  • Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
  • Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to his name.
  • Worship the LORD in the splendour of his holiness.

Psalm 29:1-2

Homage is something that someone does or says in order to show respect or admiration.Icon Png Worship - Praying Icon Png Blue, Transparent Png , Transparent Png Image - PNGitem

Psalm 95 says:

6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.7 For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.

It is a way of showing respect to an artist. You and I know, God is the greatest!  If you are in doubt:

Think about the heavens. Think about what His fingers have created. Think about the moon and stars that He has set in place. Psalm 8:3

Homage also is a formal speech or action by which people show their loyalty to a king or leader.

For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with understanding. Psalm 47:7

Have you noticed that when people pay homage by speech, they are detailed?  They have acquired knowledge, deep insight about the person in question, and hence they give informed praise!

I want to encourage you today to do your research, build a better vocabulary, and sing praises with understanding. If you are struggling to make it past the gates of praise, how then do you intend to make it into the inner courts of worship? Selah!

We will delve deeper next week, until then sing praises with understanding and worship God in a holy array.
